Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile In Old Hickory, Antioch

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two batches of mosquitoes captured in Old Hickory and Antioch have tested positive for West Nile Virus, marking the sixth time since May 1 that mosquitoes have tested positive for the virus.

The Metro Public Health Department said one batch was captured in an Old Hickory neighborhood near the intersection of Swinging Bridge Road and Burnett Road. The other batch of mosquitoes was collected in a neighborhood near the intersection of Southlake Drive and Briley Parkway in Antioch

Other areas that have had mosquitoes test positive include Bellevue, Bordeaux and Donelson. There have been no human cases reported.

Pest Management staff will visit the area Tuesday to place additional mosquito traps and pass out fliers.

Staff will also inspect standing water areas and apply larvicide if mosquito larvae are present. There are no plans to spray in the area.
