Man Charged In Burglary At Fire Hall

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said a man suspected of stealing a firefighter's wallet from a fire hall turned himself in after his parents recognized him in surveillance photos broadcast on the news.

Robert J. Wagner, 41, of Kingston Springs, was charged with burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Wagner told police he had run out of gas near Station 9 on 2nd Avenue South on May 18, and decided to go inside. The firefighters were out on a call, and police said Wagner stole a wallet from a locker room.

The firefighter discovered it was missing when he returned from the call, and reported it to police.

Detectives later learned that the victim's credit card was used to purchase two cartons of cigarettes at the Kroger store on Monroe Street. Wagner was caught on surveillance buying the cigarettes.

Wagner was held at the Metro Jail on $5,000 bond.
