Nashville Zoo Left In The Dark After Outage

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A power outage in South Nashville left the zoo in the dark Sunday afternoon.

Zoo officials said the outage lasted about 25 minutes, but during that time they took a number of precautions to keep animals and people safe. When power is lost, that means an electric fence around the zoo also doesn't work.

The zoo's protocol is for zookeepers to move any animal considered a Class 1 danger to indoor holding facilities. Power was later restored, and no animals were hurt.
