MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - What began as a routine Department of Child Services welfare check led police to discover a bizarre gallery of child pornography.

"Typically we see computer images and phone images, but we don't typically see these suspects post the stuff up on the wall," said Kyle Evans with Murfreesboro Police.

Evans said officers have arrested 20-year-old Benjamin Watts on charges of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Officers were conducting a welfare check on two children that DCS thought may have been living with their mother at a Murfreesboro apartment. The family was not there, but police did spot child pornography posted on the wall through a cloud of marijuana smoke.

"When they entered the apartment they saw marijuana, a bong and photos of naked children in sex acts on the wall of the apartment," said Evans.

Police said Watts -- who lives at the apartment -- admitted the photos belonged to him.

Investigators said they believe he may have stockpiled as many as 60,000 child pornographic images on his computer and cellphone. They suspect that Watts may have actually produced some of the pictures himself.

Officers said they hope to locate the two children and their mother for questioning.

Watts could face additional charges, including one for drug possession.
