Mayor Dean Checks Up On Students Enrolled In Scholars Academy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - More than 200 students are giving up four weeks of their summer vacation to get ahead.

Mayor Karl Dean stopped by Cane Ridge High School Tuesday to check up on kids enrolled in the Scholars Academy.

It's the second year for the academic program that gives kids more skills when it comes to math and English.

Mayor Dean said the program will better prepare students for college and the remainder of their high school years.

"They're role models to us all, and I'm very pleased by how the program is going. I think it's something the city needs to keep building on because one of our goals is to have more college graduates being produced by our city," Mayor Dean said.

This year's program included students heading into the ninth and tenth grade and is held at four different high school locations.
