Concern For Young Girls Living With Accused Child Pornographer

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Family members are concerned about two young girls who Murfreesboro police said lived with an accused child pornographer.

Detectives arrested 20-year-old Benjamin Watts earlier in the week.   They now are investigating whether a 10-year-old and a 17-year-old who lived for a time at Watts' apartment were coerced into posing for illegal photographs. The girls also were there with their mother.

"One of our primary concerns here is if he took pictures or engaged in sexual activities with these children," said Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Department.

During a welfare check of the children, officers discovered pornographic photographs on the wall of Watts' apartment and recovered hundreds of images from his cellphone and computer.

Angela, the aunt for the two girls, is terrified that Watts may have taken inappropriate photos of her nieces, especially the 10-year-old.

"She's very photogenic and she'd be easy to talk into anything.  He could ask her to pose for pictures," said Angela, who asked that we not use her last name.

Angela said she can't understand how her sister-in-law could allow the two girls to live under the same roof with Watts.

"The pictures on the wall? How could you not see them and leave your kids there," said Angela.

DCS and detectives arranged interviews with both the girls and their mother. Officers are also sifting through the child pornographic images to see if the sisters show up in any of the photos.

Watts is charged with child pornography and sexual exploitation of a minor.  It remains unclear if he produced any of the porn himself or simply downloaded it off line.

The investigation continues.
