Metro Officer Struck By Driver He Was Trying To Help

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Metro Police officer was injured after being hit by a driver he was trying to help.

Officer William Ashworth was waiting for an ambulance to arrive when he said Kirsten Grimes jumped back in her car and took off, striking him.

He ended up pinned between her car and his patrol car. She tried to run off, but officers caught up with her.

Officer Ashworth was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Grimes was charged with reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
