Air Guitar Competition Hits Music City

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A unique competition has landed in Nashville this weekend.

Contestants from across the southeast flocked to Music City Saturday night for this year's U.S. Air Guitar Qualifier. The winner from the competition gets free airfare to the semi-finals in Washington, DC.

Second and third place also qualify for the chance to go to the nationals and eventually the international competition.

"I just find air guitar awesome," said organizer Michael Vucovich. "I know it's wierd, I don't care. I'm gonna find a way to make the world a little bit better through it, and we have all of these awesome people who share that vision."

Proceeds from the ticket sales of the show went to Notes for Notes. The local non-profit enhances musical education for children by building music studios at Boys and Girls Clubs in Nashville.
