Italian Company To Open US Headquarters In Lebanon

Posted: Updated:

LEBANON, Tenn. – An Italian plastics compounding company will build its first U.S. operation and American headquarters in Wilson County, state officials announced Tuesday.

Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty and SO.F.TER. GROUP officials announced the $11.5 million investment and the creation of 50 new jobs. Ultimately, site employment will exceed 150.

"We congratulate SO.F.TER. on this move and welcome them to Tennessee as a valued corporate citizen for many years to come," Hagerty said in a statement.

"Being a part of the greater Nashville area was a benefit to us. Certainly what we offered as Wilson County as a skill sets and incentives programs and other amenities that we have here was is what I think closed the deal for us," said G.C. Hixson, Executive Director of the Joint Economic & Community Development Board of Wilson County.

The SO.F.TER GROUP, one of the world's largest independent compounders with headquarters in Forlì, Italy, will construct the 100,000 square-foot business on 21 acres off of Highway 109 in Lebanon that will serve as their headquarters for the Americas.

The site will be dedicated to the production, development and sale of engineering plastics and other advanced solutions for the U.S. market. They plan to debut on the plastics market in October at the SPE Automotive Conference in Detroit, and also in Dusseldorf later that month.

Hixson said the next step is to ensure people are being taught the right skills to get the jobs.

"A skilled work force is what we need to continue to provide to companies like this," Hixson said.
