Clarksville Private Plane Crashes Outside Chicago

Posted: Updated:

WHEELING, Ill. (AP) - A twin-engine aircraft registered in Clarksville crashed as it tried to land at a small airport outside Chicago.

The Federal Aviation Administration reports the pilot of the twin-engine Beechcraft suffered minor injuries when it slammed into the ground late Tuesday as it approached Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling. The plane carried no passengers.

FAA spokesman Tony Molinaro said the aircraft narrowly missed an apartment complex as it fell from the sky. There were no injuries on the ground reported.

FAA records indicate the Beech Super King Air 200 turbo-prop plane is registered to TennAir LLC, of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Molinaro said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
