RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – Authorities said tips led to the identification of a man accused of robbing a taxi driver in Murfreesboro earlier this week.

Murfreesboro Police arrested 26-year-old Darryl Buchanan on Thursday for failing to appear in court on an unrelated charge. He was then charged with aggravated robbery by Rutherford County Sheriff's detectives.

Authorities said Buchanan was identified Monday afternoon as the man who put a handgun under the driver's ribs and then robbed him of his cell phone, taser, and cash during the hold-up about 3:30 a.m. on Twin Oak Drive.

The driver had picked up the man at Mapco Express on Almaville Road in Smyrna and drove him to Tremont apartments on Tremont Drive in Murfreesboro. He drove him to Twin Oak Drive off East Main Street where the man directed the driver to pull into the driveway of a vacant house where the robbery occurred.

Buchanan was being held on $10,000 bond. A hearing was set for July 8 in General Sessions Court.
