Donations Collected To Help Pay For Murder Victim's Funeral Expenses

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Donations are being collected to help the family of a murder victim pay for his funeral expenses.

The Martha O'Bryan Center said Friday they would accept donations on behalf of Tyrone Reece's family because they cannot afford to pay for the funeral on Saturday.

Reece's funeral will be held at New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church at 1104 Jennings Street in Nashville. Viewing will be at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at noon.

Metro Police said the 30-year-old was walking along South 6th Street around 9 p.m. on June 21 when shots were fired. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Family and friends said Reece was a loving father, a generous friend, and a man of faith who was in the wrong place at the wrong time

Tyrone Reece took part in the Martha O'Bryan Center's Adult Education program, and was working toward his GED. His children even went to the Early Learning Center there when they were younger.

To make a donations, please make a check payable to Martha O'Bryan Center with "Tyrone Reece" in the notation.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to Crime Stoppers at (615) 74-CRIME.
