Four Vandy Football Players Dismissed From Team

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Four Vanderbilt University football players were dismissed from the team for violation of team rules Friday. The students were also suspended from the university pending further investigation.

Officials said the university reported the matter to the Metro Nashville Police Department and is fully cooperating with the Metro Police investigation.

This comes as police confirmed an investigation into sex crimes on the Vanderbilt University campus.

Police said they were investigating an incident that happened in a dorm room. It wasn't known which players were suspended or the details surrounding the incident.

Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs Beth Fortune said, "The well-being of our students is of paramount concern to us, and we will not tolerate any actions that threaten student safety and security."

The university said it will make further comments when appropriate.

Metro police have not said if anyone has been arrested. The investigation was ongoing.
