FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - The 541st Transportation Company has returned to Fort Campbell from a deployment in Afghanistan.

The 130 soldiers returned to the post Thursday -- Independence Day -- to a group of family and friends waving posters and banners. The Kentucky New Era reported the family members screamed as soldiers walked off the plane.

Several of the families traveled long distances to see their soldiers, and they had special plans to celebrate their homecoming and the 4th of July while in the area. Nettie and Elizabeth Jones came from Ohio and Florida, respectively, and the two planned on spending the holiday with 1st Sgt. Tommy Jones before returning to their homes.

Sgt. Jones said (quote) "My plan is to sleep, barbeque, eat, and sleep some more."
