Swiftwater Rescue Teams Pull Putnam Co. Woman From High Water

Posted: Updated:

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Putnam County rescue teams were called out to help pull a woman from high water.

The incident happened Thursday on the west end on Cookeville. The road near the woman's location was closed off while crews worked to help her.

Officials said the woman was caught in rising water. Members of the Putnam County Rescue Swiftwater team and Cookeville Fire Department responded to the scene.

It was not clear how the woman became trapped in the water. Her identity was not available.

A flood advisory had been issued earlier in the day by the National Weather Service in Nashville as rain continued to fall across the area.

Officials with the Cookeville-Putnam County Emergency Management Agency advised residents to avoid areas that looked like they could be flooded. They also advised people not to try unplugging any clogged drainage pipes.
