Crews Quickly Douse Small Fire At Apartment Complex

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Firefighters were called to the scene of a small fire at a Davidson County apartment complex.

The fire broke out at the Nashboro Village apartment complex Friday morning after witnesses reported seeing smoke coming through the walls between two units.

Maintenance crews tried to extinguish the flames before help arrived.

Captain Dennis Downey with the Nashville Fire Department said there were a few flames when crews arrive on scene, but it was mostly smoke.

"I was laying on the couch sleeping and this lady came by, banging on everybody's doors, telling them to get out because the building was on fire," said resident Edna McDonald.

Damage was minimal though the ceiling heads of at least one unit will likely have to be replaced.

"Just a couple weeks ago a guy that lives on the back side told me the guy next to him, a couple of weeks ago – his apartment was on fire and it came through his apartment," McDonald said.

Downey said there were no injuries.
