Flash Flood Watch For Nashville Through Weekend

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The National Weather Service has placed the Metro Nashville area under a flash flood watch through Sunday.

The Metro Office of Emergency Management said it will monitor the forecasts for the Middle Tennessee area and make preparations for any possible flooding problems, should they occur.

The weather system causing the rainfall Friday was not forecasted to move out of the area until Sunday. Showers were expected to continue off and on into Sunday with a potential of more than two inches of total rain expected throughout the weekend.

Metro OEM, along with Metro Water Services and Metro Planning Commission said they will be monitoring streams and rivers for overflow. Officials with Metro Water Services said they have cleared storm drains clogging at known trouble spots within Davidson County.

Emergency officials also said boats are on standby if needed.
