Person Of Interest Identified In Smyrna Shooting

SMYRNA, Tenn. - Smyrna police have identified a person of interest in the city's first homicide of the year.

Police said Bounthavy Mickey Mouthouta, who is also known as "Soviet" was last seen driving a 2004 Silva Honda Accord with a Tennessee license plate number 093NGR.

Three people were injured when shots were fired in the early morning hours of June 23 at the Souksavanh Restaurant on Almaville Road.  Police said the Thai restaurant had been rented for a private graduation party when a fight broke out and shots were fired.  When officers arrived on the scene they found three people with gunshot wounds.

John Bouavong died from his injuries several days later.

Police have said they believe some of the people involved in the shooting are gang members, and witnesses haven't come forward with much information.

The investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information on Mouthouta's whereabouts is urged to call Smyrna police at 615-459-6644.
