SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) - Two central Kentucky men injured when a Tennessee-registered plane crashed in Pulaski County were listed in fair condition.

WLEX-TV reported pilot 55-year-old Gary Mcglothin, of Lexington, and passenger 54-year-old Charles Jackson, of Winchester, had just left an airport about a quarter of a mile away when their plane crashed in a field on Monday just before 4 p.m.

Witnesses said the sky was clear and the plane didn't hit anything.

Evan Patman who saw the crash and was first to help the men told the station the plane dropped, digging its nose into the ground, spinning around and knocking off the wings.

The pilot and passenger were air-lifted to University of Kentucky Hospital.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were expected to begin investigating on Tuesday.
