Family Of Children Missing In Fire Believes They're Alive

BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - Several family members of two children missing after a huge house fire outside Shelbyville believe the kids are alive.

"I honestly believe the kids were kidnapped," said Larry Frame, the children's uncle.

Nine-year-old Chloie and 7-year-old Gage vanished after a fire destroyed their home last September. Police found remains of their grandparents, but no trace of the children -- not a bone fragment or a tooth.

In a NewsChannel 5 special report last week, the sheriff said he believes the children still died in the fire. However, Frame talked about a different view of the fates of his niece and nephew.

"I believe she's alive. I believe both of them are," said Frame.

NewsChannel 5 also spoke with the children's mother and several aunts by phone and they agree.

Frame said he thinks someone took the children, murdered the grandparents and set the fire to cover it all up. The death certificate shows the medical examiner could not determine the manner of death.

Frame said he hopes law enforcement doesn't give up on the case.  The sheriff, police and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation all said the case remains active and will stay that way.

The children are still considered missing and even eight months later, an Amber Alert remains in effect.
