NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A man was hospitalized overnight after being found injured in a church parking lot in east Nashville overnight.

The victim called 911 on his cell phone shortly after 2 a.m. from the parking lot of the Universal Christian Holiness Church on Shelby Avenue. He was found with a wound to his stomach that was initially though to be a gunshot wound; however, police later said it could be a knife or some other wound.

He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. His identity was not immediately released.

Detectives interviewed the victim at the hospital, and said they were not sure if he was still in shock or if he was not willing to give them information, but he could not give a good description of his attacker.
