Two Suspected In Recent Vehicle Thefts Apprehended After Chase

Posted: Updated:

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. – Two juveniles wanted in connection with recent vehicle thefts were taken into custody following a pursuit in Robertson County Wednesday morning.

The Robertson County Sheriff's Office said a detective spotted Nissan pickup truck, which had been reported stolen in Ridgetop early Wednesday, in the northern part of the county around 11 a.m.. He attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver did not stop. The detective gave chase, and continued the pursuit north toward Kentucky and then back into Robertson County .

The chase ended on Memorial Boulevard in Springfield, where both the driver and a passenger were taken into custody.

Authorities said both juveniles were believed to be involved in several recent vehicle thefts in Robertson and Cheatham Counties. They had released surveillance photos of three suspects taken at businesses in Springfield earlier this week. However, after interviews with the third person depicted they determined he had nothing to do with the thefts.

Police said the crimes were committed in the early hours of Saturday, June 29 in Coopertown, Cedar Hill, and Pleasant View.

All of the stolen vehicles were recovered.

Authorities said the pair confessed to the thefts. Charges against the pair are forthcoming.
