The Bridge Building Receives Special Honor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mayor Karl Dean announced Tuesday The Bridge Building in downtown Nashville was rated as the highest LEED building in the world.

The Bridge Building received 99 out of a possible 100 points in the LEED Core and Shell standard. This gives the structure a platinum rating and the special title as the highest ranking in the world.

Hastings Architecture Associates and its greenSTUDIO division was behind the renovations for the building, and helping it earn all possible points in the areas of sustainability, energy, innovation and regional priority.

Mayor Dean said the 108-year-old building is a source of pride for Nashville.

"It sets a really high standard for the rest of the city, and we can't do it every time obviously, but one of the goals we have for the city is to be more environmentally friendly, to be the greenest city in the Southeast and this is a huge step in the right direction," said Dean.

The Bridge Building is currently leased to several businesses along with a catering company.
