Body Found In Cumberland River Was Man Who Jumped From Bridge

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The body recovered from the Cumberland River in west Nashville on Tuesday night has been identified by police as a man who jumped from a bridge last week.

Metro Police said the body of 19-year-old Samuel Christopher Hagens was recovered around 10 p.m. after someone reported seeing a body about three miles east of the Cleeces Ferry boat ramp.

Hagens was seen Friday morning acting strangely at the MTA bust station at 4th Avenue North and Charlotte Avenue. He reportedly ran from there to 3rd Avenue before witnesses said he jumped off the Victory Memorial Bridge around 8:30 a.m. Friday.
