Nashville Crossing Guards Sought At Job Fair

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department held a job fair Wednesday for crossing guards for the upcoming school year. 

Dozens of applicants are answering the call. Applicants range from retirees looking for something to do to students looking for to make money while in college.

The fair was held in the Green Hills Room of the Metro Southeast complex at 1417 Murfreesboro Pike.

Applicants must be at least 18, have a valid government-issued ID and social security card, have reliable transportation, and be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Crossing guards work 15 hours a week and make $9.79 an hour. They will receive training and are subject to a background check.

Metro police employ nearly 200 crossing guards. They work public school zones in the mornings and afternoons throughout Davidson County.
