Navigational Light Outage Fixed On Bridge

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said a navigational light outage on an Ohio River bridge at Louisville has been fixed. The outage on the Kennedy Bridge was caused by a faulty section of power cable.

The lights give visual cues to watercraft navigating under the bridge at night. The lights went out Tuesday.

Transportation Cabinet spokesman Chuck Wolfe said workers started troubleshooting the problem at about 9 p.m. EDT Tuesday and had them working again by about 11:30 p.m. Wolfe said the problem was caused by a section of power cable running from the breaker cabinet to the first junction box.

The U.S. Coast Guard sent out hourly alerts to mariners throughout the outage warning of the lack of lights on the bridge.
