NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A section of Interstate 440 will be closed over the weekend for major concrete repair work.

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, the Tennessee Department of Transportation will close a one-mile section of the eastbound lanes for major concrete repairs. The affected area is between Interstate 65 and Interstate 24 including the on-and-off ramps at Nolensville Road.

The repairs are part of a $9.7 million project to widen this stretch of I-440 eastbound. Workers will jackhammer deteriorating concrete and pour new pavement.

The roadway will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday.

There will be eight more weekend closures after this one so the work can be completed. They are tentatively planned for the following weekends:

  • July 19 – July 22
  • July 26 – July 29
  • August 2 – August 5
  • August 9 – August 12
  • August 16 – August 19
  • September 6– September 9
  • September 13 – September 16
  • October 11 – October 13
