NES Warns Customers About Tree Trimming Scam

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Nashville Electric Service is warning its customers about a recent scam where woman was scammed by people claiming to be tree trimmers who worked for the utility.

Officials said the woman was approached by a man and woman who claimed they were NES tree trimmers who needed to discuss trimming trees in her backyard.

While one of them distracted her, the other entered the house and stole personal property. They fled the scene in a silver van.

NES said employees, including tree trimming contractors, always carry proper identification, and must present it when asked. Contractors also drive vehicle that are clearly marked as being NES tree trimming contractors.

Additionally, customers will never be asked by personnel to provide personal information such as bank account numbers or asked to pay an electric bill or for tree trimming work.
