CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Chicken producer Pilgrim's Pride said it will cut 200 jobs in Chattanooga.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported the company will shut down its cooking and cold storage facilities in Chattanooga.

A Pilgrim's spokesman said employees who had their positions cut would be offered jobs at the company's remaining downtown Chattanooga facilities, and that 40 jobs already had been added at a deboning plant.

The newspaper reported the shift is part of a realignment, which has seen Chattanooga moved from the prepared foods division to the small bird deboning division.

The company said no changes are planned to the "kill" and deboning operations in Chattanooga.

J. Ed. Marston, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce's vice president for marketing, said he's disappointed to hear about the job loss.
