Sheriff's Office Named Winner Of Battle Of The Badges Blood Drive

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Davidson County Sheriff's office was named the winner of the Battle of the Badges blood drive that was held last week.

The Sheriff's Office won with 241 donors, while the Metro Nashville Police Department came in second with 195 and the Nashville Fire Department had 90. In all, 526 people donated blood last Friday at LP Field.

Red Cross officials said this was the highest turnout than any other year on record.

The departments teamed up to help replenish the Red Cross' low blood supply.

"All these local heroes came together in a friendly competition to save lives. And it's really powerful because these are the same people who see the need every day in our community, and they're paying it forward, they're helping," said Regina Raccuglia with the Tennessee Valley Blood Services. "And we're also calling on community members to come out, roll up a sleeve, and save a life."

The Sheriff's Office will get a plaque, their picture in the paper, and be named Best Badge of Davidson County. Most importantly, the donated blood and platelets will help hospital patients across the Tennessee Valley Region.
