Developers Discuss Proposed Downtown Franklin Hotel

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Two developers in Franklin will be taking questions from business owners Tuesday about their plan to build a 120-unit hotel in the historic downtown district.

It's an idea that's been in the works for a while, but now it could be closer to reality.

The meeting was held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Franklin Theatre, with developers Roderick Heller and Jay Franks answering questions from the audience.

The biggest concern from neighbors and business owners is whether the proposed hotel will blend in with the downtown atmosphere.

The developers said that is their number one concern.

"The core objective is having a project that is architecturally contextual, that's what we envision," said Heller.  "We're not trying to recreate something that looks older.  We want an authentic property that people would recognize for the quality we envision."

Heller and Franks are voluntarily holding the Tuesday meeting ahead of any required hearings by the city of Franklin.
