Hundreds Attend Safe & Sound Career Expo At Lipscomb

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Over a thousand people attended the fifth annual Safe & Sound Career Expo Wednesday at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena.

Job seekers were able to talk with employees from nearly 70 leading companies from around the Nashville area.

One recent implant said it was a good place to meet-and-greet potential employers.

"I just moved here from Arizona, and this is a lot of opportunities here. Different facilities, different people, individual people that got hiring positions," said job seeker Bianca Bankston.

Employers said they come to these events looking for potential hires for open positions.

"We do seriously consider them, because we only bring jobs that we currently have posted. We don't bring promises, or 'oh we'll have something in the near future.' The jobs that we brought today are the ones currently on our website," said Cassie Martin with Nashville Electric Service.

"The only reason they go through the effort and the energy and the time to show up to these things is they're hopefully going to hire someone for their company. They're just more companies out here hiring," according to organizer Matt Lowney.

There were a wide range of companies and professions represented Wednesday.

"Front line, truck drivers, machine operators, all the way to somebody who's going to run manage and direct operations. It's a good mix, I think," according to Lowney.
