Surveillance Camera Captures Copper Thief Suspect

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have released surveillance images of a man they said stole several feet of copper wire from a Davidson County telephone tower.

The robbery took place Thursday, June 20 at a South Nashville location. Officials said the suspect cut a hole into the fence and the cut large pieces of copper off the side of the transmission building and the tower.

The copper materials were valued at an estimated $1,200.

Officials said surveillance footage showed clear images of the suspect.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, with a short heard and mustache.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the robbery has been asked to call the Metro Nashville Police Department's Crime Stoppers number at 615-74-CRIME (742-7463). They can also text the word CASH and their message to 274637.

Investigators were also hoping to question the suspect in other Nashville area copper thefts.
