Aspiring Musician Comes Face-To-Face With Intruder

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A woman who recently moved to Nashville for music got much more than she bargained for when she came face-to-face with an intruder.

The home invasion happened last week in the Chimney Top Apartments in Antioch. The thief got away with the aspiring musician's purse, phone and her guitar.

Lindsay Moore remains in high spirits considering what she's been through, but she's singing a new tune, thanks to the experience. In a city where musicians hope to make it big, the 24-year old is learning just what it takes to write a song.

"I think experiencing different things like trauma or heartbreak, it gives a lot of ammo as far as inspiration goes," said Moore.

The inspiration for her latest tune is about the situation she wanted to soon forget when an intruder walked into her house, wanting to steal.

"Probably about 4 a.m. I woke up to a guy standing over my bed," said Moore. "I said 'you need to leave,' and he said 'you need to give me all your money.'"

The thief hit Moore in the eye and at one point dropped his pants. Instead of erasing what happened, she has put the experience into her lyrics.

She's even playing with a new guitar donated to her by strangers.

"One of the biggest things I want people to know is how much good can come out of bad situations," said Moore.

While Moore works to stay positive, her biggest fans are watching her back.

"She writes a song about heartbreak and I'm feeling it right with her because I love her so much," said Moore's mother, Darlene Moore.

It's a kind of love that even in her new song, has a verse of its own.

Moore said the thief is still out there. Since this has happened, she's received two new guitars and her friends back home in Connecticut, where she lived up until four months ago, have raised more than $1,000 for her.
