Man Accused Of Tying Wife Up With Extension Cord

Posted: Updated:

WESTMORELAND, Tenn.-  A Sumner County man has been accused of attacking his wife and tying her up with an extension cord. Westmoreland police took Robert Lauderdale into custody early Wednesday morning.

Police said Lauderdale and his wife were separated. When she came to the home Tuesday to pick up some personal items for their children he forced her into a closet then tied her up with an extension cord.

Police then said he pulled a knife on her resulting in a cut and even threatened to kill her with an assault rifle.

The woman convinced Lauderdale to let her go so she could bring the children back to the house.

While driving in separate cars she made a call to 911 resulting in Lauderdale's arrest.

Robert Lauderdale was charged with aggravated domestic assault and especially aggravated kidnapping. He was released from jail on $100,000 bond.
