Registered Sex Offender Arrested For Abuse Of Toddler

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – A registered sex offender has been arrested after being accused of inappropriate contact with a 4-year-old child in Sumner County.

The incident happened at the InTown Suites Extended Living facility at 1017 West Main Street in Hendersonville.

Police said they got a call at 12:48 p.m. Saturday, saying 39-year-old Anthony Norton inappropriately touched the child in a "sexual manner."

Sergeant Denney Coarsey with the Hendersonville Police Department said Norton had recently been released from jail. He was registered as a sex offender.

According to the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, Norton was convicted of rape of a child in July 1993. The site classified him as violent.

Norton was arrested and charged with one count aggravated sexual battery and one count of violation of the sex offender registry.

A court date was set for August 21, 2013.
