Kentucky Man Killed, Two Injured In Clarksville

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The death of a Kentucky man inside a Clarksville home has been ruled a homicide. Police have asked for help to identify the suspects.

Miles B. Hendrick, age 23, was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting and apparent assault that happened in Montgomery County.

Investigators with the Clarksville Police Department said three male suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandanas forced their way into a home at 727 Ranch Hill Drive around 3 a.m. Sunday.

One of the suspects was armed with a 9mm handgun. Another had a tire iron.

Witnesses told police the suspects demanded drugs and money from an unknown number of victims before going through the house, searching for money and electronics.

Several victims freed themselves and some kind of struggle ensued. One of the suspects suffered blunt force injuries to his head, face and back.

When the suspect called for help, the other two men came into the room. One of them shot and killed Hendrick.

Police said the incident was not a random crime. They believe a fourth female suspect led the others to the specific residence.

Hendrick was from Morgantown, Kentucky, and visiting friends who lived at the home.

The suspects were described as young black males in their late teens to early 20s. One of them wore dreadlocks in his hair.

"This is sad something like this can happen," said Julian Butler, who lives two houses down. "I definitely think people need to be aware of things like this, and what's happening in your neighborhoods, so we can prevent as much as we possibly can."

Butler said he doesn't know much about his neighbors, other than at least one of them was a solider.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Clarksville Police Department's special operations unit homicide detectives by calling 931-648-0656. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers at 931-648-TIPS (8477).
