Two People Injured In Downtown Shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two people were sent to the hospital with gunshot injures after a car pulled over downtown and someone inside fired shots.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Union Street. The intersection was closed off while police conducted their investigation and collected evidence. 

Victims told officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department they were with a group of people when another group drove up and an argument ensued.

The nature of the argument wasn't available.

Officials said a suspect inside the car pulled out a gun and started firing shots, striking the victims.

Emergency medical technicians from the Nashville Fire Department were called to the scene to treat the victims. 

They were transported by ground to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The victims' identities were not released.

Police were still looking for the suspect who pulled the trigger.
