NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A firefighter was hospitalized after being overcome by heat while battling a house fire in West Meade on Tuesday morning.

The home on Bresslyn Road was fully involved when first crews got on the scene just before 5 a.m.

One firefighter was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after being overcome by the heat. Officials kept an eye on the other firefighters and gave them extra breaks to ensure that no other firefighters get hurt.

No one was at home at the time of the fire, but the home suffered major damage to the roof and interior.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but the Fire Marshal will be on scene to investigate.
