NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With schools starting back, residents can give back to those students in need. The United Way will host "Stuff the Bus Days of Action drive" at Greer Stadium on Thursday morning.

Items such as pencils, pens, spiral notebooks, notebook paper, markers, scissors, and folders can be donated from 9:30 to 10 a.m. The United Way hopes to fill 5,000 backpacks with school supplies at its Sort-A-Thon on Thursday.

Backpacks full of supplies will be delivered to and distributed by 18 United Way Family Resource Centers and 23 other agencies in Nashville.

Anyone who comes out to donate Thursday can also stick around and help volunteer with players from the Nashville Sounds.

Since 2009, the United Way has collected more than 179,000 school supplies to help 13,000 children.
