NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An accused serial car burglar was taken into custody following a traffic stop Saturday night.

Edward Luna, 22, was a passenger in a pickup truck stopped for speeding by the Metro Gang Unit on Briley Parkway near Centennial Boulevard around 10 p.m. Police said Luna did not have identification on him when he was taken into custody, but he said to the officer "You know me, I'm all over the news.  I'm the one who broke into all the police cars and stole the guns."

Luna later refused to be interviewed by detectives.

Luna was being sought on warrants charging him with breaking into three automobiles, one of them a police car. He's also a suspect in the burglaries of other law enforcement vehicles in the Nashville area early last week.

Under tires in the back of the pickup truck, police found a green bag containing two semi-automatic pistols, more than 100 rounds of ammunition and magazines for the guns. One of the guns was confirmed as being stolen from an SUV in south Nashville on July 21.

Luna was held in lieu of $91,000 bond at the Metro jail. He faces multiple charges, including felony theft and unlawful gun possession.

Police said 17-year-old Austin Dodd, an escapee from state custody who was believed to be with Luna, was also in the pickup truck. He was taken to juvenile detention and booked on an escape charge. He denied any involvement with the vehicle burglaries.
