Pleasant View, Tennessee- A Cheatham county man's honest and insightful take on life with terminal cancer is inspiring others thanks to a new blog.

For the last week, David Fleming, has been blogging for the website  He writes daily entries about ups and downs that come with living with terminal heart cancer.

"There are a lot of things that have happened to me that are humorous, even in my condition," said Fleming.  "I've written about my progression, weight loss, lifestyle changes, support from family and friends."

Fleming answered an ad on the website asking for local bloggers.  He said he doesn't consider himself a writer, but is encouraged by all the positive feedback he's received from readers.

"I didn't realize I was going to impact people that much," said Fleming.  "I get a lot of emails and messages.  People say they have a family member dealing with the same thing."

Life with cancer is a topic Fleming knows well.  Since 2006, the 50-year-old has battled 7 types of cancer, and endured 19 surgeries.  He continues to exceed his doctors' expectations, and believes that is due to his positive attitude.

"I don't let cancer interfere with my life," said Fleming.  "I do what I want to do.  If you're going to fight you've got to have the right attitude and be positive about it."

It's a message he hopes to share and spread to his readers.

"You can do anything in life with a positive attitude," said Fleming.  "I don't care if you are sick and disabled, you can get up and go, you just have to have the right mental attitude about it."

Fleming is building on his new-found love of writing, and is also working on a book about his life with cancer.  Aside from daily visits at his home from his Hospice nurse, Fleming continues to do the things he loves and vows to live each day to the fullest.

"I never plan more than two days ahead," said Fleming.  "I'm still here, and I'm still fighting."
