East Nashville Home Destroyed By Cooking Fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An east Nashville home was destroyed in a fire Monday night after officials said a back deck caught on fire and spread quickly.

The fire started around 9:30 p.m. at a house located at 2330 Carter Avenue. Fire official said the homeowners were smoking chicken on the back porch when the fire started.

They along with several pets made it out of the home safely.

Several fire trucks responded to the scene to help control the blaze.

One firefighter was transported to Skyline Medical Center to be treated for a minor burn.

The home was considered a total loss.
