Wilson County Fair Teams Up With Music City Star

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Wilson County Fair is the biggest county fair in the state and it's added a new attraction. Fair goers won't have to drive to get there though; this year, they can take the Music City Star.

The Music City Star will run between Nashville and the Wilson County Fair on Saturday, August 17 and Saturday, August 24.

Lebanon Mayor Phillip Craighead has been working with the Fair Board and RTA to get it done. They tried it several years ago, but attendees needed to take a shuttle to get to the fairgrounds. This year, passengers can also walk.

When passengers get off the train in Lebanon they'll get off at the end of Williams Street. They can either take a shuttle or walk the two blocks right to the fairgrounds entrance.

"What better opportunity for a grandparent or a parent to take their kid to the best fair in the nation and also ride that train and have that kind of an experience." said Craighead.

One train will depart Nashville at noon with a second one leaving three hours later.

The Wilson County Fairboard is counting on 400 riders and said anything over that would be a bonus.

The Wilson County Fair opens August 16. It's attracts more than half a million people each year.
