NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A car driving the wrong way struck a Metro Police cruiser head-on, and sent an officer to the hospital.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday on Ellington Parkway near Briley Parkway. Two officers were in the cruiser when they were involved with a head-on collision with another car that was going southbound in the northbound lane.

One of the officers suffered minor injuries, and was treated and released from Skyline Medical Center.

The other driver did not suffer injuries, and was cited for not having proper proof of insurance. Police said there was no sign that alcohol played a factor in the crash, but it remained under investigation.
