Close But No Win For Titans In First Pre-season Game

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Thursday night's rainy weather didn't seem to dampen the spirit of Tennessee Titan fans. The team took the field against the Washington Redskins in their first pre-season game.

It was the Titans' chance to officially unveil all the changes made during the eventful off-season. Five new coaches have joined the team along with 20 new players.

The Redskin's star quarterback, Robert Griffin the Third handled the coin toss. Although Griffin was warmed up and dressed to play, Kirk Cousins took the field in his place. Griffin is recovering from a knee injury.

The Titans showed off their revamped run game as Chris Johnson scored on a 58-yard burst. Tennessee had 92 yards rushing and a 14-7 lead after the first quarter; Shonn Greene added a 19-yard Touchdown run.

In the end the Redskins were able to hold on to a slight lead winning the game 22-21.

Next Saturday, August 17th,  the Titans head to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals.
