NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Several people were injured after a car slammed into an MTA bus Saturday afternoon.

The wreck happened just after 4 p.m. on Charlotte Avenue and 5th Street in downtown Nashville. Witnesses said it looked like the car was trying to beat the light when it struck the bus while it was making a turn.

Witnesses on the scene jumped in to help the woman get out of her car.

"I had to rescue her, her neck was hurting and I had to grab a seatbelt from under her, unbuckle so she could get her out from the car before it catch on fire," said one witness on the scene.

Officials said several people were transported to the hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
