MT. JULIET, Tenn. - A 33-year-old man was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a Mt. Juliet home for more than six hours.

Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene Saturday afternoon.

Police said an officer spotted Brian Crafton of Primm Springs, who has felony warrants out of Metro Nashville, in the 600 Block of Meadowview Drive in Mt. Juliet. He is wanted by police for several charges, including aggravated assault.

According to officials, when Craft saw police he immediately ran into his ex-wife's home and refused to come out. Crafton's ex-wife and his two children were in the home during the standoff.

Six other nearby homes were evacuated as a safety precaution.

Investigation revealed Crafton was initially hiding in the attic of the home, but broke through the floor to gain access to the crawlspace in an attempt to evade officers.

Police deployed gas canisters to force Crafton out of the home. At that point, SRT memeber successfully took Crafton into custody around 10 p.m.

No one was injured during the standoff.
