Family Blessed With New Home After Flood

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Four days after flood waters forced a family out of their home with their foster daughter, they said the disaster made way for bigger and better blessings.

Five-feet of flood water rushed into the LeBlond's family Inglewood home, leaving a huge mess to clean up.

"If we don't find suitable housing we could lose our foster child," said Dawn LeBlond on August 8, after water receded inside their home.

Four days later, with everything they own in their two cars, they have something to celebrate.

"Moving into a new house, I feel like I am doing my job. My wife and my child are safe," said Chris LeBlond.

From the moment Dawn walked into her new Antioch home, she saw a longtime dream come true with a fireplace in the living room, which their daughter said makes way for Santa to stay the night.

The house also has a backyard she said is three times bigger than the one before, able to hold their four dogs, two cats and has room for their 8-year-old daughter to play.

"God is taking care of us so much," said Dawn. "Nobody finds a house like this with this many animals and people in four days," said Dawn.

She said everything they were able to salvage fit into seven plastic bins. Not enough to fill their new home, but enough to get a new start.

"I'm looking at where I'm going to hang my pictures. That was the only thing I saved really, were pictures," said Dawn.

Dawn said words can't express her gratitude for all the help her family has received, even from people they have never met.

"There's no way we can repay everybody for everything they have done, but I have every intention of paying it forward," said Dawn.

Dawn said their living room furniture was insured, but until they get the replacements, a church member is giving them a couch. Once they get their new furniture, they will pay their blessings forward and give another family in need the couches they were given.
