Half Of Metro 7th Graders Don't Have Required Immunizations

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Half of Metro Nashville Public School 7th graders have still not received the required immunizations.

Regulations call for all 7th graders to receive a series of shots before the first day of school.

The Metro Health Department said it's not too late.

"The school system will notify the parent. They'll send a letter home and let them know they don't have all their immunizations and the parents have five days to get all their immunizations or the child will no longer be excused from school," said Brian Todd.

The shots can be obtained at any doctor's office or Metro Health Department location.

The shots are covered under insurance or under the Vaccines for Children Program for those without insurance.
